Finally! A laugher of a win—at least after the eighth inning. The Red Sox collected 10 walks and pounded out 12 hits in
a much-needed 11-4 win over the Tigers.
Eduardo Rodriguez pitched six solid innings—giving up just one run on only two hits, while striking out seven.
J.D. Martinez rapped three hits, while
Rafael Devers,
Christian Vazquez and
Jackie Bradley, Jr. knocked in two runs apiece. Boston blew the game open with seven runs in the eighth inning—
three on bases-loaded walks.
Tyler Thornburg continued to raise questions about why he is still on the roster—working one inning and giving up three earned runs. The win placed Boston at 10-15—six games back of Tampa. The Red Sox still have the third worst run differential in all of baseball (-36)—trailing only the Marlins and Orioles. They finish up their series with
The Tabbys tonight.
