Well, it wasn't
exactly a stellar outing by
Eduardo Nunez—but he only gave up one run in one inning of work. Compare that to starter
Rick "Not-So-Pretty" Porcello, who coughed up seven runs in 4.2 innings—his second straight crappy start of 2019. The Red Sox were embarrassed
again on this
Road Trip From Hell with
a 15-8 pounding by the star-free Arizona Diamondbacks. Once again, Boston got on top early (1-0), but the starter could not hold the lead. All told, Red Sox starters have gone 40.1 innings in the first nine games—
giving up 43 earned runs. Absolutely unacceptable. Boston mounted a late "rally" as both
Mookie Betts and
Mitch Moreland homered. But, frankly, nobody cared, as this lifeless team continues to lose badly.
