So far, the 2019 Red Sox campaign is annoyingly monotonous. Begin with crappy starting pitching, mix in some potent late-inning offense—and walk away losing three out of four games to a clearly inferior team. Welcome to the new season! Sunday's lousy start came from
Rick Porcello—who lasted exactly 2.2 innings and coughed up nine runs (four earned). After 73 pitches
"Pretty Ricky" wasn't so attractive. Behind 9-3 early, Boston battled back to having the tying runs in scoring position in the ninth inning. Alas, it was not to be, and
they fell, 10-8. Good offensive games were turned in by:
J.D. Martinez (2-3, HR, 4 RBIs);
Mookie Betts (1-4, HR);
Rafael Devers (2-5);
Eduardo Nunez (1-4, 2 RBIs). Tonight,
David Price becomes the next potential sacrificial lamb in Oakland.
