Joe Kelly Blows Two Leads In Dodger Debut, LA Loses 5-4 In Extra Innings
Former Red Sox reliever Joe Kelly—who was so dominating in the 2018 World Series—had a bad debut for his new club. The mercurial righty came into last night's game with his new team ahead 3-0 and promptly gave up a game-tying three-run home run. After the Denizens Of Chavez Ravine re-gained the lead 4-3, Kelly coughed up the tying run again. The Diamondbacks eventually won the game 5-4 in 13 innings—but "Jim Buchanan" did not get the loss. Kelly pitched just 1.1 innings, and was charged with two earned runs. You may recall that Kelly came on in the eighth inning of World Series Game Five and struck out Dodgers Matt Kemp, Joc Pederson and Cody Bellinger with a man on first (via a lead-off walk by David Price). It was an epic Kelly performance.
