According to reporting by
Joel Sherman of
The New York Post, The Yankees may be
backing-off their interest in signing free-agent Nathan Eovaldi—even after being smoked on the
Patrick Corbin deal by the Nationals. According to Sherman,
The Pinstriped Posers may be more interested in keeping lefty starter
J.A. Happ—rather than committing to four years of the right-handed Eovaldi. In addition to the Happ option,
The Bronx Embalmers are also talking to the Indians about dealing for one of
their starters. This, of course, may bode well for the Red Sox—who have made Eovaldi their top free-agent priority. Still, it seems odd that
The Evil Ones would signal lower interest in a player that Boston is so interested in. Ah, wait, we've seen this before. It may be yet another "false flag" operation from
Brian Cashman to ease the path to ultimately landing Eovaldi. Stay tuned!
