With almost 30% of the votes publicly available (116 of 412), Red Sox hero
Curt Schilling is still within reasonable striking distance of being inducted into the
Baseball Hall Of Fame. Schilling now has accrued 72.4% of the votes publicly cast—with 75% needed for enshrinement. He needs to pull 76% of the
remaining votes to reach that magic level. It looks like it will be close—as Schilling has maintained his standing around 75% at every benchmark so far. Based on the other results, it looks like
Mariano Rivera,
Mike Mussina,
Edgar Martinez and the late
Roy Halladay are
locks to get in. Others, besides Schilling, who are also on the bubble at this point are:
Roger Clemens (73.3%),
Barry Bonds (72.4%)—and, to a lesser degree,
Larry Walker (67.2%). The final results of the balloting will be announced on January 22nd. You can track the public vote
