Clearly,
Mookie Betts deserved to be a finalist in the American League MVP voting—and he
is in the field of the top three finalists as announced tonight by the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA). Betts led the majors in hitting (.346)—and added 32 HRs, 30 stolen bases, and 80 RBIs in just 136 games (
most out of the lead-off spot).
However, the myopic writers
did not place Betts' teammate
J.D. Martinez in the final field of three—a
huge snub to a guy who led
all of MLB in RBIs (130)—and was second in batting average (.330) and second in home runs (43).
How in God's name is he
not in and
Jose Ramirez and
Mike Trout are in? Absolutely disgraceful.
