Mookie Betts, JBJ And Ian Kinsler Nab American League Gold Glove Awards
Two-thirds of the Red Sox outfield garnered Gold Glove awards yesterday—along with a veteran second-baseman on The Carmine Hose. Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley, Jr. nabbed the OF honors, while Ian Kinsler won his second career Gold Glove at second base. Betts had 20 defensive runs saved in 2018, while JBJ won his first Gold Glove, in part by delivering the most "four-star" catches in the American League (12—via Statcast™). Said Bradley, "It means a whole lot. I'm a player that takes a lot of pride in my defense, and helping my team on both sides of the ball. There are a lot of great center fielders that I'm in competition with, and it's an honor to be mentioned along with those guys." Kinsler—who joined the Red Sox in a deal from the Angels at the trade deadline—had 10 defensive runs saved in 2018.
