POLL: Almost Three-Quarters Do Not Want Mookie Moved Off Lead-Off Spot
Early voting in our latest FenwayNation Poll shows that almost three-quarters of readers (74%) do not want Mookie Betts moved out of the lead-off spot in the Red Sox bating order. As the chart shows, just over one-quarter of readers (26%) take the opposite view that, given his "slump" in the post-season, Mookie should be moved down to the 2 or 3 spot—just ahead of J.D. Martinez. The theory, of course, is that Mookie would see many more good pitches to hit in the new spot—and thus emerge more quickly from his .188 average so far in the playoffs.
