While they "punted" on the August waiver-trade process, the Red Sox made multiple roster moves on Friday. They recalled five players to the expanded major-league roster: LHP
Bobby Poyner; LHP
Robby Scott; RHP
William Cuevas; INF
Tzu-Wei Lin; 1B/OF
Sam Travis. In addition, three players were activated from the disabled list: LHP
Eduardo Rodriguez (who will pitch
tonight in Chicago); C
Christian Vazquez; and RHP
Steven Wright. All in all, a
weak response in light of the
clear needs in the bullpen and maybe even in the starting rotation.
Bad roster moves—no biscuit!
