Red Sox Starting Playoff Rotation: Eduardo Rodriguez Out, Nathan Eovaldi In
In a major shake-up, multiple reports indicate that Alex Cora has decided to oust left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez from the playoff rotation—and inserted Nathan Eovaldi in his place. Part of the reason for the change may have been the quite different performances of each starter in the recent Yankee series. Eovaldi pitched very well against The Bronx Embalmers, while E-Rod got shelled. Another reason might be the need for a somewhat dependable lefty arm out of the continually shaky bullpen. Either way, it is a huge demotion for Rodriguez—who (before the New York start) had turned things around with multiple good starts after returning from the DL. Reportedly, while Eovaldi will start the ALDS in the 'pen, he will be available to start Game Four of the series. Stay tuned!
