Proving decisively that
the Red Sox do not discriminate based on age, the team activated
both 37-year-old
Brandon Philips and 21-year-old
Rafael Devers on Tuesday. Philips has hit .304 with 5 HRs and 26 RBIs in 44 minor-league games this year. It's unclear
exactly how the three-time All-Star will contribute to the team in September—since he he will
not be available for the post-season. Devers is recovering from a DL stint. Before being injured, he had slumped to a .242 average this year—striking out 105 times in 102 games. He appeared to be miffed with his long DL stay. Keep tuned!
