David Price On His Opt-Out Opportunity In 2019: "Why Would I Leave Here?"

Red Sox starter David Price told MassLive.com's Christopher Smith that he isn't thinking about exercising his "opt-out" clause in his five-year, $217 million Red Sox contract at the end of the 2018 season. Said Price, "Why would I leave here to go to a team that's not as good as this team? I came here to win. I don't worry about all the other stuff. Just come here to win. We're going to have a really good chance to do that." The 33-year-old lefty will earn $31 million next year—and $32 million each in seasons 2020, 2021 and 2022. At the end of the deal he will be 37-years-old. Price claims to be ignoring any social media fuss about him—saying he doesn't even have TWITTER on his new phone. Somehow, we don't believe that. Anyway, as long as he pitches like he has been (5-0, 2.04 since July 12th), we are cool with Mr. Price.
