Stop us if you've heard this before: The Red Sox bullpen coughed up
another extra-inning loss to the Indians—
this one of the 4-3 variety.
Robby "Why Am I In the Majors?" Scott gave up the game-losing single in the bottom of the eleventh, after a surprisingly good (and long) relief outing by
William Cuevas. The 27-year-old righty went 5.1 innings—giving up just
two hits and a run, but still took the hard-luck loss. The only real highlight of the night was
Mookie Betts going 4-5—including his 31st HR. The Red Sox right-fielder continues to lead MLB with a .343 average.
Rafael Devers also collected his 60th RBI on the season. The Red Sox have just six more opportunities (three against the pitiful Orioles and three against
The Evil Ones) to set an all-time franchise win mark with
one more win. That win would also secure the best record in the American League, and give
The Carmine Hose home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
