Multiple reports suggest that Blue Jays third-baseman
Josh Donaldson may be
lusted after by three American League contenders at the August trade waiver deadline. The Red Sox, Indians and Yankees are all rumored to have shown interest in getting the three-time All-Star and 2015 AL MVP. Donaldson is currently on the disabled list with a calf injury and—even when healthy—has had a sub-par 2018 season. Both the Indians and
Bronx Embalmers might claim Donaldson just to deny him to the Red Sox—as both have inferior records to Boston. Of course, getting Donaldson would likely mean a reduced role for 21-year-old
Rafael Devers at third base. The 32-year-old Donaldson is a .275 hitter over his eight MLB seasons—with 179 home runs and an OPS of .873. In his MVP season, he hit 41 HRs and knocked in 123 while hitting .297. As an added benefit, his 'Players Weekend' nickname is the very cool
"BRINGER OF RAIN". Stay tuned!
