The Red Sox are now 19-6 in
David Price's 25 starts so far this season. On Thursday, the lefty went eight superb shutout innings in
Boston's 7-0 win—
their 90th of the 2018 season. Price now owns
the lowest ERA in the American League since the All-Star Break at 1.09—and is now 14-6 on the year. Boston's bats came alive in the fifth-inning—started by a
Blake Swihart 2-run double (substituting for an inured
Mitch Moreland).
The Carmine Hose went on to tally six runs in the inning on the way to the rout. Also contributing on the offensive side were:
Mookie Betts (2-5, R);
J.D. Martinez (1-3, R, RBI);
Xander Bogaerts (1-5, R, 2 RBIs);
Eduardo Nunez (1-4, 2 RBIs) and
Jackie Bradley, Jr. (2-4, R). JBJ now has his average up to .225 on the season. After a hiccup,
Tyler Thornburg kept the Indians off the board in the ninth. The win pushed Boston's lead in the American League East to 9.5 games over the idle
Pinstriped Posers.
