On his 25th birthday,
the Red Sox have recalled left-handed pitcher Jalen Beeks from AAA. To accommodate his presence on the 25-man roster, the team sent right-handed pitcher
William Cuevas back down to Pawtucket. You may recall that, earlier this season, Beeks had a cup of
very bitter coffee with the big club—pitching four innings and giving up six earned runs in a spot start. In his brief stay in Boston this year, the 27-year-old Cuevas pitched just two innings in relief—giving up one earned run.
