Sox Pass Evil Empire To Take Second Spot In Latest MLB Power Rankings
The Red Sox moved up one spot from last week—passing The Bronx Embalmers to move into second-place in the latest MLB Power Rankings out today. The Houston Astros remain at the top of the pile, with the Brewers fourth and the Cubbies fifth. The Indians, Mariners, Phillies, Braves and Diamondbacks round-out the Top 10. The Rays moved up two spots to #15 this week, while the Cincinnati Reds made their first appearance of the year in the Top 20—finishing 19th. Five of the Top 7 ranked teams are all from the American League—two each from the AL East and West, along with the Indians from the AL Central. The surprising Oakland A's (now 11 games over .500), have moved to just six games back in the Wild Card race—and now sit in the #14 spot in this week's rankings. Despite having the most wins in all of baseball (63), the best winning percentage (.685) and the most runs scored (494), Boston still has not been able to shake the World Series Champion Astros and re-take the top spot in the rankings.
