In an indication of just how shallow the Red Sox minor-league system is, just one player from the organization will appear in the 2018 All-Star Futures Game. Major League Baseball announced the U.S.A. and World rosters and only Venezuelan native
Bryan Mata (Salem Red Sox-Single A Ball) will represent the Boston organization. The 6'3", 160-pound Mata is a right-handed pitcher who has gone 5-2 with a 3.14 ERA so far this season. In 15 starts for Salem, the 19-year old has struck out 56 batters in 66 innings of work. The game will take place on Sunday, July 15th at Nationals Park.
