Red Sox Are One Of Four Teams In On A Bevy Of Cincinnati Relief Pitchers
Multiple reports indicate that the Red Sox—along with the Braves, Rockies and Phillies—are expressing trade interest in four distinct Cincinnati relief pitchers. The four are: Raisel Iglesias, Amir Garrett, David Hernandez and Jared Hughes. All four have quirks that make them somewhat unsuitable for Boston. For example, both Hernandez and Hughes are signed to team-friendly contracts, so they would likely fetch a lot in return. Also, the Reds are really reluctant to part with Garrett at all. And, the final choice—Iglesias—isn't eligible to become a free agent until after the 2021 season (again suggesting a big haul in return). So, frankly, none of these guys seems a perfect fit for the Red Sox. Stay tuned, though—Double D is a busy (and trigger-happy) guy.
