Last night, just before the Red Sox broke through their scoreless malaise,
Eduardo Núñez got
plunked right in the stomach to load the bases in the 12th inning. A concerned manager
Alex Cora rushed out to make sure his player was OK and could continue. But then Núñez, on the ground clutching his gut, exclaimed,
"Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God. I'm not gonna die, I'm not gonna die." Those comments
and all the pent-up frustration of an extra-inning game just simply made Cora break down and laugh. Said the manager,
"It was funny. Whatever. At least he made me laugh in the 12th inning of a close game." Indeed.
