Jalen Beeks will probably want to forget his first inning of MLB pitching. The 24-year-old lefty gave up five earned runs—
on the way to his first loss, 7-2. Despite the shelling, the kid seemed to have good stuff and a surly demeanor (always important in a pitcher). Boston's offense was probably not going to offer a lot of support anyway—collecting just seven hits on the night.
Andrew Benintendi was pretty much the whole show—clouting his 11th home run and going 2-5. The only other occurrence of note was
J.D.Martinez again leaving a game late with back tightness. Keep an eye on this, it could mushroom into another injury malady for the Sox—already missing
Mookie Betts and
Dustin Pedroia. Tonight,
