According to multiple reports,
the Arizona Diamondbacks have signed former Red Sox pitcher Henry Owens to a minor-league deal. The lefty—who will turn 26 in July—was the 36th overall pick by Boston in the 2011 MLB Draft. He joins
Deven Marrero,
Clay Buchholz and
Rey Fuentes as ex-Red Sox who have hooked up with Arizona GM
Mike Hazen—who served in the same role for the Red Sox. The is the
second go-around for Owens with the Diamondbacks, as he was claimed from them at the end of last year by the Dodgers —who then released him in mid-May of this year. The lanky port-sider made just 16 total starts in
Carmine Hose—going 4-6 with a 5.19 ERA. He never managed to fulfill the promise he showed early in his minor-league career. We wish him the best of luck in the desert.
