Drew Pomeranz—who has been on the disabled list since the end of May—
is set to throw a rehab start for AAA Pawtucket on Monday. On Wednesday, he threw a 2-inning simulated game at Fenway Park. The lefty has been side-lined with left bicep tendinitis, and has struggled to stay healthy all season long. Before knuckle-baller
Steven Wright went on the disabled list, it had been presumed that Pomeranz would head to the
bullpen upon his return to health. Now, it seems likely that he will re-claim his lost rotation spot once he's ready. If Pomeranz can approximate his 2017 performance for the rest of this year, it would be like the Red Sox picking up a free-agent starter at the deadline. Stay tuned.
