Will Red Sox Trade Blake Swihart And Take A Chance On DFA'd Matt Harvey?
Multiple reports are suggesting that the Red Sox may be interested in dealing for released starting pitcher Matt Harvey. The New York Metropolitans are in dire need of a catcher and Blake Swihart is available and eager to don the 'tools of ignorance' on a full-time basis. Some reports suggest that the Red Sox—while considering it—don't appear to be interested at this time. However, if Drew Pomeranz throws up another stinker in New York on Tuesday and/or David Price's elbow goes "pop", they might re-think the trade. Harvey has had a miserable time with multiple injuries over the past three seasons. He was last effective way back in 2015—when he went 13-8 with a 2.71 ERA. He is still just 29-years-old, so it's conceivable that—under the right tutelage—he might regain his former dominance. It would be a risky move, but it might be worth a shot.
