Boston's top three hitters in the order—
Mookie Betts,
Andrew Benintendi and
Hanley Ramirez—went 7-15 in yesterday's
5-2 triumph over the Jays. Betts (3-5) scored two more of his MLB-leading 41 runs, Benintendi (3-5) knocked in two and scored one, and Hanley (1-5) clubbed a two-run HR that proved to be the difference.
David Price came back from his mysterious set of injuries to pitch well-enough to win (5.1 innings, 2 ERs, 6 Ks), but still was shaky with his control (3 BBs). The bullpen morphed into effectiveness for once—going 3.2 innings of shutout ball.
Craig Kimbrel notched his 11th save of the year. The win kept
The Carmine Hose in a tie for first—as the A's blew a 6-2 lead at
The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street. A win today could give the Red Sox a stellar 6-4 mark on this interminable 10-game road trip.
