Rick Procello is back in his
Cy Young form and
Rafael Devers seems to be adapting well to the major leagues at the ripe old age of 21. The combination of these two factors helped send the Red Sox to
an impressive 5-1 win over the Texas Rangers on Friday night. Porcello went six stellar innings—giving up just three hits and a run, while striking out eight and walking just one. It was the righty's fifth win of the year (against no losses) and lowered his ERA to 2.14. Devers went 3-4 with two homeruns—driving in two and scoring two. Of course,
Mookie Betts delivered his obligatory daily solo HR (leading the majors now with 13) and
J.D. Martinez also added a solo blast.
Hanley Ramirez knocked in a run through a more mundane double. All in all, it was a solid road win—spoiled only be the fact that
The Bronx Embalmers walked off a win (after blowing a lead) in the 9th.
