Way back in 2014, the Red Sox selected
Chandler Shepherd out of the University of Kentucky in the 13th round of that year's MLB Draft (404th overall). The 25-year-old pitcher has had his ups and downs in the organization—but was shifted this year from relieving to starting. Things started to move in the right direction in early May. Then yesterday, Shepherd went seven solid innings, giving up just four hits and a run, while striking out six in
the 6-1 win by the PawSox. Shepherd's strong May has been somewhat overshadowed by his Pawtucket teammate
Jalen Beeks. But, if he continues to shine in the AAA rotation, he
could be an option in Boston if injury or poor performance rears its ugly head any further than it already has. Keep an eye on him!
