Thanks to the only guy who seems to be reporting on this issue—NBCSportsBoston's Evan Drellich—Xander Bogaerts is headed to the 10-day disabled list with a bone issue in his left foot. So, this is not an ankle issue, as had been widely reported before. Drellich also reports that Bogaerts was seen wearing a protective boot on his foot. Clearly, this will require some kind of roster move to get another infielder (probably Tzu-Wei Lin). Lin would probably offer the best option from a defensive point of view—although he clearly will not come remotely close to the offensive potential of Bogaerts. Stay tuned for more details.
