Over our 18 years covering the Red Sox,
FenwayNation has really only designated
one charity for our readers to support—
The Jimmy Fund. Today, we are designating a
second organization that we wholeheartedly believe is worthy of your support—
The Martin Richard Foundation. Named for the eight-year-old boy who was killed on April 15, 2013 in the Boston Marathon bombings, the foundation's mission is to provide
"opportunities for young people to learn, grow and lead through volunteerism and community engagement. We look to advance sportsmanship, inclusion, kindness and peace." In the wake of the bombings, a picture of Martin appeared on the Internet. In it, he was holding a handmade sign that read
'No More Hurting People, Peace'. That exposure helped spur the start of the foundation—championing those laudable goals that Martin so eloquently expressed. Please take a moment to visit the foundation's website and give what you can. Thank you. You can view the foundation website
