The long-awaited return of left-handed starter
Eduardo Rodriguez will happen on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
E-Rod had knee surgery last October and has made the slow and steady recovery without
too many problems. Despite a disappointing 2017 season (4.19 ERA), he still logged an impressive 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. Slotting him in after
Chris Sale,
David Price and
Rick Porcello will solidify an already
historically good starting rotation. His activation—along with the soon-to-be return of
Drew Pomeranz—will cause a little bit of a log-jam on the pitching staff overall.
Brian Johnson and
Hector Velazquez have
both pitched extremely well as the fourth and fifth starters, and could be headed to the bullpen to bolster what has been an "up-and-down" relief corps. Stay tuned!
