More than likely, the kids at the
Hurley K-8 School in Boston's South End were told that some big shots were coming to visit. They heard that the city's Mayor, the wife of Red Sox owner
John Henry and
Wally the Green Monster were due at their classroom today. You can just hear the collective yawn from the kids. But then, lo and behold, a
true surprise hero came as well—
David Ortiz—
to pass out some real Red Sox hats. OK, now the kids were psyched! Today's event is part of the "Calling All Kids" campaign—which is donating Red Sox hats to more than 45,000 Boston Public School students. The campaign, organized with Red Sox partner
JetBlue, will provide Red Sox hats to kindergarten through 8th-grade students at 104 public schools in Boston. God stuff, NOG!
