City Of Boston Postpones Vote On Yawkey Way Yanking For A Second Time
The City of Boston's somewhat inaccurately-named "Public Improvement Commission" was supposed to vote today on the John Henry petition to change the name of Yawkey Way to Jersey Street. For some unknown reason, the commission decided to postpone a vote—for the second time—to April 26. Maybe these dedicated public servants needed to get an early start to the Cape for the long Patriots' Day weekend. In any event, the delay is probably more to do with the unexpected opposition to the name change that has emerged among a wide array of citizens. In our earlier FenwayNation Poll, 66% of the 593 readers who responded to the poll opposed the name change. Stay tuned—this may not go as smoothly as the NOG originally thought.
