The Red Sox
scooped up some AA/AAA bullpen insurance by signing RHP
Ryan Brasier to a minor-league contract. He
had been pitching for the
Hiroshima Toyo Carp (3.00 ERA in 2017)—but has not appeared in an MLB game since 2013. The 30-year old hurler was a sixth-round pick of the Angles in 2007 and appeared in only seven games for the Halos in 2013. Before his contract was sold to the Carp on December 14, 2016, Brasier was briefly with the Oakland A's organization. He had gone 5-3 with a 3.56 ERA for Oakland's Triple-A Nashville franchise during the 2016 season.
