New Red Sox slugger
J.D. Martinez demonstrated his proclivity for going to right-field—with three hits in that direction (one actually to right-
center) in his second game for Boston. The DH/LF doubled and drove in a run in
the eventual 6-6 tie with the Rays. Said manager
Alex Cora of his new hitting star,
"There's certain situations we know he's going to hit the ball out of the ballpark, but he's going to be able to get on base and hit for average, and that's key." He also made comparisons between Martinez and
Manny Ramirez.
