New Red Sox slugger
J.D. Martinez went 0-2 in today's Grapefruit League loss to the Twinkies. Batting clean-up, the 30-year-old flied out to RF and CF in his two plate appearances. Martinez
did make a couple of good defensive plays in left-field during his four innings of work. Said manager
Alex Cora,
"He'll DH tomorrow and have Friday off. But he wants his at-bats. He needs to prepare. I think this, for how exciting it is to have him here, it's just part of the process." Boston ended up losing the game to Minnesota by
a score of 8-1.
