The
Red Sox will be among several teams in attendance at a Thursday "workout" by two-time
Cy Young winner
Tim Lincecum.
The Freak played his first eight seasons as a Giant—winning three World Series rings. Then, last May he signed as a free-agent with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The 33-year-old started just nine games for the Halos—posting a dismal 2-6 record with a 9.16 ERA. However, rumor has it that he's looked extremely impressive in recent private workout sessions. Other teams that will be there are: the Giants, Dodgers, Yankees, Brewers, Padres, Tigers, Phillies, Rangers, and Twins. It makes sense for Boston to take a look at Lincecum as an "insurance" starter who can be called upon in the event of either injury or poor performance among the top five starters.
