OK, we've given the Red Sox—and particularly
Dave Dombrowski—a lot of grief for the almost-endless pursuit of
J.D. Martinez. But, hey, they've clearly exhibited a sense of humor about the delay—at least somebody in the social media operation of the team has, anyway. Referencing a Christmas 2017 tweet from an irate fan (and
his mandate that the team stop tweeting until they signed the slugger), the official Twitter account of the Red Sox posted this:
"Permission to resume tweeting?" OK, touché'. Nice touch.
