Lately, the NOG (New Ownership Group) has been been pretty much preoccupied with everything
but baseball—e.g., foreign soccer, NASCAR racing,
The Boston Globe newspaper, and the lame NESN sports network. Now, we can add real estate development to the list. According to multiple reports,
Fenway Sports Group Real Estate is actively moving on
development plans for at least six parcels in and around Fenway Park—and one 20-acre parcel at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida. In general, it seems that
most of the development plans center on putting up mega-hotel/office building complexes in place of existing parking spaces. Perfect! What the area needs are fewer parking spots, right? Of course, the party line from Yawkey Ways is that all of these new developments will only serve to "expand" the Fenway Park and game-day "experience".
