Well, isn't this special? Free-agent
J.D. Martinez is telling confidants that
he is "fed up" with the "inflexibility" of the Red Sox for not moving off their five-year, $125 million offer.
And, he claims that because of this frustration,
he would rather sign with another club. Now, this could just be high-stakes posturing by Martinez and his
Uber-Agent Scott Boras—after all, Boston is offering a
very lucrative deal (and nobody else is offering
anything). Plus, both
Dave Dombrowski and Sox Chairman
Tom Werner have sent relatively positive signals over the last week or so—
but this could be getting nasty. Stay tuned!
