The Toronto Blue Jays announced that—during the 2018 season—
their players will wear a number 32 commemorative patch honoring the late
Roy Halladay. Toronto will also retire Halladay's number on Opening Day, March 29th, at the Rogers Centre. The only other Blue Jay number retired is that of Hall-Of-Famer
Roberto Alomar (#12). Halladay died on November 7, 2017 in an airplane crash in the Gulf Of Mexico. Halladay pitched seven seasons in Toronto—winning the Cy Young award in 2003. While with the Blue Jays, he made the AL All-Star team six times. Despite the fact that he was 14-15 against the Red Sox with a 4.39 ERA over his career, you
still never wanted to see him as the opposing pitcher.
