One new 'pace-of-play' wrinkle that might actually prove to be cool would be
the return of the bullpen cart. At many stadiums—
including Fenway Park—the bullpen cart was an iconic feature that thrilled kid and adult fans alike. I mean, come on, who wouldn't love a giant Red Sox hat scrunched on top of a golf cart blazing in from right field? Interestingly, it was the player's union that suggested the return of the cart, and it might now actually happen—as soon as the 2018 season. Talk about your unintended (but
positive) consequences! Now, there's a great example of cooperation between management and labor (to the degree that multi-millionaires can be considered "labor"). Let's all hope this one comes to fruition!
