Steven Wright—who recently had a difficult run-in with the law—was
re-signed by the Red Sox on a one-year, $1.1 million deal—avoiding arbitration. The 33-year-old knuckleballer was sidelined most of 2017 with a knee injury that ultimately led to surgery. In December, Wright was arrested on domestic assault charges. His case was 'retired' for a year—which may or may not lead to an actual dismissal. Either way, MLB could impose a
separate punishment. Stay tuned.
