What Might Have Been....... |
Dave Dombrowski's "CYA" revisionist history on
Giancarlo Stanton may have sprung a few more leaks—thanks to Stanton's agent. According to a report by
Nick Friar of the (New Bedford, Massachusetts)
Standard-Times, the agent has made it clear that
the NL MVP would have considered the Red Sox if the team had shown more interest. The agent,
Joel Wolfe, responded thusly when asked if a serious Boston offer would have been considered,
"Oh, of course, yeah. I don’t know what the Marlins said to them, but I can’t imagine that they would’ve said, 'Hey he doesn’t want to go there, so don’t bother.' We said, 'These are our preferences, but we’ll listen to what you have to say.'" Yikes! Double D had better make some big deals, or this kind of revelation will haunt him throughout 2018.
