Can this get any worse? Multiple reports are suggesting that
the Red Sox are one of a few teams interested in free-agent first-baseman Mark Reynolds.
Say what? Reynolds—
who will be 35 years-old next August—is a
perennial whiff machine (223 Ks in 2009; 175 in 2017; 1,806 in his 11-year MLB career). What is
Dave Dombrowski thinking? Reynolds has been on seven different MLB clubs in his career, and would certainly come cheap (he made just $1.5 million last year). And, Reynolds
did have a decent year in Colorado last season (.267, 30 HRs, 97 RBIs, OPS .839), But, please, Fenway Park is
not Coors Field. We
have to do much better than this!
