Major League Baseball announced that—between the start of the 2016 off-season and the end of the 2017 post-season—
the league conducted 10,237 drug tests. Of the total, 8,235 analyzed for performance enhancing drugs, stimulants and DHEA, while 2,002 were analyzed for human growth hormone (hGH). Disciplinary action was taken on only
seven cases (5 for PEDs, 2 for stimulants). That's a discipline rate of just 0.0007%. The more than 10,000 tests conducted is an increase over the 8,281 in the previous reporting period.
