The City of Worcester, Massachusetts is getting even
more serious about its attempt to land a AAA baseball franchise. City Manager
Edward M. Augustus Jr. confirmed that
Worcester has hired two prominent consultants to help with their efforts to lure away Boston's top farm team from Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Smith College economist
Andrew Zimbalist and former Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation
Jeffrey Mullan have both been engaged by the city to help in discussions with team ownership. Both consultants are well-connected and influential—and represent a real escalation of the battle between slumping Pawtucket and surging Worcester. Stay tuned!
