Tomorrow, December 1st, is
the non-tender deadline to offer arbitration-eligible players a contract. The Red Sox have 13 of these players, and, while
Dave Dombrowski has hinted he will sign all 13, there
might be a couple of exceptions. Specifically,
Brock Holt and
Sandy Leon could be non-tendered—and thus immediately become free agents. Holt has been hurt and ineffective lately, and Leon has to face the reality of
both Christian Vazquez and
Blake Swihart on the roster. Holt and Leon each make about $2 million a year. What DD does tomorrow could also give us hints about upcoming trades or free-agent signings—depending upon how many roster spots are (or are
not) freed-up. Stay tuned!
