overall—Boston's 2017 relief corps was pretty darned good. Still, adding another dependable arm out of the 'pen is something that would cement it as one of the best in baseball. Thus, multiple reports suggest that the Red Sox will sign Cleveland free-agent
Bryan Shaw. First of all, the guy is
durable. In the last five seasons, no one has appeared in more games—
and he's never gone on the disabled list! While Shaw doesn't have the dominant strike-out stuff of a
Craig Kimbrel, the 30-year-old has a career ERA of 3.13 over 446.1 innings pitched. And, in 19 post-season games, Shaw has posted a 2.45 ERA. Most observers expect him to net a three-year deal in the neighborhood of $20 million.
