According to
USAToday's
Bob Nightengale,
the only two teams likely to trade successfully for Giancarlo Stanton are the St. Louis Cardinals or the San Francisco Giants. Thus, despite the excess cash in the pockets of Red Sox owner
John Henry, Stanton will
not likely be bashing 60+ HRs over Fenway's Green Monster. Nightengale cites the deep farm system and ready cash in St. Louis as the most likely destination—although the "coastal" appeal of San Francisco might swing things to the Bay Area—since Stanton has stated a preference for a coastal team
and has full 'no-trade' protection. Stay tuned!
